about me…

Life (and work) are filled with distractions. We wake up and react… to emails, customers, bosses, employees, partners, kids, family, etc. We’ve morphed from human beings to human doings—often living life on autopilot to cope with the stress.

But whatever we’re doing isn’t really working, is it?

We’ve become less connected to each other and to ourselves. People are lonely. Everyone seems burnt out. And we’re all yearning for something more, something deeper.

The good news is I think people are waking up to this reality. The issues we face today, on a global and individual level, from humanitarian crises to our own personal suffering, all come from the same source—a detachment from our own sense of humanity.

And this can only be solved when we reclaim that part of us that is still connected. This is what mindfulness is to me—to be aware of what’s true so we can live more fulfilling lives and show others how to heal as well.

Whether it’s through my writing, consulting or meditation practices, it’s the most important thing to me—to help people understand we’re not alone, we can heal, and our stories do matter.

My experience:

For more than 10 years, I’ve helped companies tell their stories to the world. Because I was responsible for a lot of the “who are we?” existential questions, I naturally became very good at facilitating personal conversations among leadership teams. I’ve built brand messages, coached CEOs through press interviews, and facilitated change management processes. With a background in journalism and organizational communication, I often became the in-house truth teller and war-room facilitator.

In 2017, I had gone through my own internal identity crisis of dealing with clinical anxiety, burnout, lack of purpose, and feeling trapped in a volatile setting of a fast-growing startup. A cocktail of experiences that was, unfortunately, not too uncommon for my peers.

I was tired of moving through life on autopilot. That year, I completed both the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program by John Kabat Zinn, PhD, and the Mindfulness Self-Compassion Course by Christopher K. Germer, PhD, leader in the integration of mindfulness and psychotherapy, and Kristin Neff, PhD, pioneering researcher in the field of self-compassion. I also started a women’s health community focused on issues that needed more awareness.

I was like a lion released from her cage. I became dedicated to a consistent mindfulness practice, and it didn’t take long to feel the effects. I started to wake up to what was real. And ever since then, my life has taken me to new levels of awareness. It’s made me a better writer, a better advisor, and a better friend.

In 2018, I picked up and moved my life to Mexico City where I have been living and running a little content marketing business remotely.

In January 2020, I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Guatemala and currently spend my time writing, consulting, running guided meditations and finding any excuse to escape to the beach to surf.
